HEROES GET REMEMBERED... BUT LEGENDS NEVER DIE
|

This past offseason, on November 7th, 2007, the Selkirk Steelers along with so many other people were hit
with the devastating news of the passing of Greg Croley. Coach Croley has been a coach for many years and the coach of our
particular team for about six years now. Over these years he has taught us so much on and off the field, and he did it in
a way that made everyone believe in themselves and gave us the confidence to play our best day in and day out. It did not
matter to him if you caught the fly ball or if you missed it. It did not matter to him if you struck out to lose the game
or hit the home run to win it. No matter what when you came to that bench, you might have felt bad for screwing up but the
Coach Croley pound it was always there. Personally I think my favourite was the pound it you got rounding third base after
a home run, but lets face it they were all good. Coach Croley always gave everyone the chance to play, for all we know Package
might not have ever thrown a pitch in a game if it werent for Coach Croley, cause really, who believed Package when he said
he could throw the ball. He always knew what to say and always knew how to show you the right way to make a play without making
you feel like a screwup. I know for one that he loved coaching us with a passion, he loved hanging out with us, he loved teaching
us the way to do it right. In all the sports I have played Coach Croley was and always will be the best coach I
ever had. I say we make him proud boys and show Coach Croley everything he taught us by going out this year and all the
years of ball ahead of us and show him that he moulded us, his players, his students, his friends, into winners.
